The senior project is a comprehensive design experience that integrates the knowledge and skills acquired in previous courses with engineering standards and realistic constraints. Students work in teams to develop practical solutions to mechanical engineering problems. Initially, they start with problem definition and source, evaluating existing solutions. They then create more efficient solutions by conducting conceptual and detailed analyses. Finally, they produce a prototype and test their solutions. Teams communicate their work through written reports and oral presentations according to the schedule announced at the beginning of the term. Project teams work under the supervision of a faculty member throughout the term. They may consult with experts inside or outside the university. Projects may be sponsored by companies.
