We congratulate Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shehram Dizeci and Ata Khabaz-Aghdam from our Faculty of Engineering for their recent publication in a prestigious journal by SAGE, focusing on the joint behavior of dissimilar materials.

In their study, the mechanical performance of dissimilar single-lap joints (DSLJs) composed of metal and composite materials was comprehensively evaluated. The research highlights that premature softening, particularly in metals with low elastic modulus, leads to a reduction in load-carrying capacity and early failure. Furthermore, fracture surface analyses were conducted, and mathematical expressions were developed to describe the relationship between ultimate load and failure characteristics.

This original study offers valuable scientific insights for the safe and effective design of multi-material joints.

We extend our sincere congratulations to our researchers and wish them continued success.
