🔧 Significant Achievement by TJCC ReLighTED Team in Jet Engine Design

The TJCC ReLighTED Team, composed of undergraduate and graduate students from TED University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, has achieved a notable success in the 2025 Teknofest Jet Engine Combustion Chamber Design Competition.

The team, supervised by Dr. Sıtkı Uslu, a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, includes senior undergraduate students Doğukan Ocak, Efe Demirel, Ege Şensoy, Kubilay Çeliker, and graduate student Mert Emir Avcı.

Organized in collaboration with TEI (TUSAŞ Engine Industries Inc.), the competition was structured in four stages. A total of 212 teams applied; 57 of them submitted their Conceptual Design Reports, and only 19 teams qualified for the second stage—Detailed Design Reporting. Following evaluations, five teams with the highest scores advanced to the final stage, where they presented their designs at TEI’s facilities between July 7–9, 2025.

The TJCC ReLighTED Team stood out during the final presentations and ranked among the top three teams with the highest scores. Their combustion chamber design will now be manufactured by TEI, and the final rankings will be determined based on performance tests.

In recognition of their innovative engineering approach and outstanding presentation, the team received the “Original Design” and “Best Presentation” awards. We extend our sincere congratulations to the team and wish them continued success in the upcoming testing phase.

As the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TED University, we remain committed to supporting our students and believe that such initiatives play a vital role in shaping the engineers of tomorrow.
